Service Learning

At ASD, we believe that helping others and doing our part is a critical element for us as members of a global society. Service learning is an integral part of our Upper School program.

Learners in grades 9-12 are required to do a certain number of hours of service learning activities as a graduation requirement, and learners at all grade levels are encouraged to participate in service learning on an ongoing basis.

ASD supports a local orphanage through regular visits, during which our students spend time with the orphans, play with them, read to them, and help them with their homework.

We also conduct a monthly food and supplies drive to provide the orphanage with much-needed materials. From time to time, the children at the orphanage are invited to ASD to participate in special events.

Another regular feature of our service learning program is our popular gardening club.

ASD students design and maintain our gardens and play areas as well as promote recycling throughout our school community.
