It is my pleasure to welcome you to the American School of Douala’s (ASD) webpage. ASD is a small school serving both expatriate and Cameroonian students from PreK3 through grade 10. For the 2010/11 school year there are approximately 120 students enrolled representing more than 20 nationalities making ASD a truly multi-cultural institution. Our mission is to strive to develop students that will be competitive, self-confident, compassionate, and positively contribute to our global community. We provide a supportive, multi-cultural environment with a high-standard American curriculum encouraging students to reach their maximum potential. Our Mission plays a key role in our long-term planning, as well as our day-to-day activities.

The professional staff consists of 20 full and part-time teachers, which make for small classes and gives the school a family-like feeling.

In addition to our strong academic program, ASD offers a broad after-school program allowing students an opportunity to develop additional interests.

The facility is purpose-built and was completed for the 2009 school year. It is 4000 square meters (44 000 sq ft) on 4 floors, housing 20 classrooms, a library, indoor gymnasium, multi-purpose room, covered playground, grass soccer field, running track, and WiFi throughout.

The American School of Douala is proud to be completing its’ first accreditation self-study, with a visiting team from Middle States Associates coming the first week of November. The self-study has been instrumental in helping us determine areas of growth for our educational program.

My family and I are extremely proud to be a part of the educational learning community of ASD. If you have any questions about ASD, please do not hesitate to email or call me.

Best regards,

Lyle Moltzan
